Description
Early Years Nature Craft Activities – Create A Bug Hotel Craft Activity
Bug hotels are a fantastic way to teach little learners about the different habitats bugs have, even in the smallest of places. In this Create A Bug Hotel Craft Activity, learners can colour and decorate their own bug hotel then cut out the bugs, leaves, acorns and pine cones to live in the bug hotel.
This resource contains one worksheet with the bug hotel, which you can make as colourful as you wish, with felt tips, crayons, paints or colouring pencils. The resource also contains a second worksheet which includes bugs (spiders, centipedes, ladybirds, woodlice, butterflies and bees), leaves, pine cones and acorns.
While completing this resource you could also research the different bugs with your early years child, finding out what they like to eat, which habitats they live in and whether they have any special features. Why not also take the bug sheet outside and explore local nature, maybe finding some of the bugs on the sheet.
You could also have a go at building your own bug hotel. It is a fun and educational activity that will get you and your children out in the fresh air, while developing a love for nature. Have a look at the Woodland Trust’s How to Build a Bug Hotel to get you started.
